Rating Recipes

Q: Why does rating recipes now require registration & log in?
A: We have implemented registration to ensure a secure and fair rating process for the remainder of the contest. Each participant can create a login to rate their favourite recipes and rate each recipe, once per person, per day as set out in our rules. As set forth in our Privacy Policy we will not collect, sell, transfer or otherwise disclose any of your personal information to any third party without your consent. We will only keep your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes of the Pillsbury* Baking Challenge or as otherwise required by law.

Q: Why can't my friends and family rate my recipe?
A: Users can only rate recipes starting November 16th. Make sure you save your unique URL and remind your family and friends to vote from November 16th until January 27th. Each participant can create a login to rate their favourite recipes and rate each recipe, once per person, per day as set out in our rules.

Q: How do I create a sign in on bakingchallenge.ca website?
A: You can click on the "Sign In" button on our home page or click on "Rate Recipe" under your favourite recipe. You will be prompted to register with your first name and email address. Once registered, come back each day to sign in and vote.

Q: How do I know my vote has counted? The number of votes next to the recipe hasn't changed.
A: Voting does not begin until November 16th, 2009. If you have rated a recipe, please wait until the page refreshes and the rating count changes. If you have waited more than one minute, then click Refresh button on your browser. Your rating should have now registered. If it has not, please submit your issue through the Contact Us form. We will work to resolve the issue immediately.

Entering/Editing/Sharing My Recipe

Q: Can I submit more than one recipe to the contest?
A: Yes, all entrants are eligible to submit more than one recipe to the contest provided that each is a unique entry. If more than one of your submitted recipes becomes a top-rated recipe, only the highest rated recipe can advance to the judging round. Please see the Judging Criteria for more information.

Q: My personal information (i.e. my email address) has changed. How can I update it?
A: Through the Contact Us form, you can submit the unique URL/link to your individual recipe along with the information you would like corrected. You can find your unique URL/link in the confirmation email you received after submitting your recipe.

Q: How do I find my recipe once I've submitted it?
A: You can use the "Search" function at the top right hand corner of the site to search for your name or the name of your submitted recipe.

Q: How do I install the Pillsbury* Baking Challenge badge on my blog, MySpace page or Facebook profile?
A: The embed code to your badge can be found through the unique URL/link inside the confirmation email sent to you after you had submitted your recipe. Simply copy and paste the provided badge embed code into the HTML of the site on which you would like to post the badge (i.e. website, blog, MySpace, etc.). To promote your recipe via Facebook, copy and paste the unique URL/link to your recipe on your Facebook profile.

Q: How do I share my recipe with my friends and family online?
A: You can send your recipe to a friend by using the unique URL/link emailed to you or click "Share Recipe" from the submission page. From there you can select the site on which you would like to share your recipe.

Q: I'm having difficulty uploading a photo during the recipe submission process. What are the photo requirements?
A: You may only use a .jpg type image. For the best results, your image should be landscape oriented, with a dimension of 275x206 pixels. Your photo must be under 2 MB and with a width or height no larger than 1000 pixels. Please re-size your photo before attempting to upload it.

Q: In what format should I enter my recipe?
A: Please see an example here . You are also encouraged to attach a thumbnail to achieve better impact.

Q: I am having trouble printing my recipe. How can I print my recipe?
A: Go to your "File Menu" in your browser and select "File", then select "Print". Click OK. The recipe should now print. If it does not, there may be a connection issue between the computer and your printer. Please consult the printer's owner's manual to troubleshoot.

Eligibility

Q: I uploaded a recipe, but can no longer view it. Has it been removed?
A: If you can no longer view your recipe, try clicking on the URL/link from your confirmation email. If the link to your recipe still does not work, your recipe has been evaluated and does not meet the criteria outlined in the contest rules. You are encouraged to submit another recipe based on the Judging Criteria.

Q: What do you mean when you state that my submission must be an "Original Recipe"?
A: An "Original Recipe" means that the recipe has not been entered or published in, but not limited to cookbooks, in magazines, from food companies, on food or recipe websites and winners in cooking contests.

Q: I created my own recipe from someone else's "Original Recipe" - is this eligible for submission?
A: The "Original Recipe" must feature significant changes in order for it to be deemed eligible. There must be at least three significant step changes, such as the addition or removal of ingredients or a change in preparation method.

Q: Can I use more than one Pillsbury* product in my recipe?
A: Yes, however only one Pillsbury* product can be the main feature of the recipe; other Pillsbury* products may be used as supporting ingredients.

Q: I am not sure in which category my recipe belongs. Into which category should I submit my recipe?
A: Submit your recipe into the category you deem most appropriate. The recipe shall be moved to the most appropriate category by the end of the next business day if it is found to have been entered into the wrong category.

Q: Why does it say the rating limit has been reached when I try to rate my favourite recipe?
A: Our rules and regulations state that once signed in, participants may vote once per recipe, per person, per day. We encourage you to return to the site the next day to rate your favourite recipe.

Q: I'm having trouble viewing the site. What should I do?
A: Please make sure that you are viewing the site in one of these browsers: IE7 (Internet Explorer 7), IE8 (Internet Explorer 8), Firefox 2+, or Safari 2.0+. If you are still having difficulties viewing the site, please use the Contact Us form.
